Milan Mijovic, President
Milan Mijovic, LL.M is the President and the Founder of Serbian Office for Space Sciences, Research and Development (SERBSPACE), Space law Ph.D. student and Air and Space law Researcher at Law School Union University in Belgrade, Serbia.
Following several years of Space law research and practice, active role within Space Generation Advisory Council as a National point of contact for Serbia and member of Space law working group, appointment as Faculty advisor for Manfred Lachs Space law Moot competitions, participation as a speaker at International Astronautical Congress 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and UN/IAF Workshops in 2016, 2017 and 2018, Milan became a leading expert in the aviation and aerospace industry. His engagement culminated with launch of one of the biggest Space related projects in Serbia – establishment of Serbian Space Agency. Mentioned project was created and published in March 2016, and officially presented at UN/IAF Workshop 2016 in Mexico. He continued with development of national and international Space strategies, including international large scale projects such as Emerging countries Space office and Serbia Space strategy for water and disaster management, which he presented at UN conference in Pakistan in 2018.
Being a recognized Space lawyer, Milan’s research led to the thesis should private ownership be allowed in Outer space, as he advocated this idea since his early days of Space law research. Providing arguments for these rights, Milan has published several papers on this matter and introduced this idea to the international community, believing that, with proper governance system, private ownership must be allowed in Outer space, in order to provide development and sustainable space exploration.
Skilled in Requirements Management, International Law, International Arbitration and Space Law, Milan’s doctoral dissertation relates to Ownership rights in Space, Moon and other celestial bodies. He also holds a specialization degree as a professional translator for English and German language. Milan is recipient of several prestigious Space law awards and acknowledgements. He is a member of International Institute of Space law and The Hague Space Resources Governance Working Group, with several Space law papers published in national and international publications.
Borko Markovic, Head of Architectural and Design department
Borko Markovic, M. Arch. has joined SERBSPACE in September 2016, being appointed as Head of Architectural and Design department. He has obtained his Master degree in Architecture at University of Belgrade.
Since his early student days, Borko has demonstrated exceptional interest in different fields of visual arts and 3D modeling. His master thesis examined problems of large scale and spatial structures, with emphasis on tensile membranes structures. His work was presented at City of the Future exhibition held in Belgrade, whereas many young professionals and experts gave its positive impressions about it. During his faculty days, he acted as a student teaching assistant, working with professors and holding lectures to first and second year students.
During Serbia floods in 2014, Borko was a part of solution project which was targeted at design and construction of modular houses which could provide shelter for the affected population, as well as provide ecologically sustainable solution. In 2015, during the refugee crisis, Borko was involved in a project whose aim was providing architectural solutions for refugees in Serbia, enabling temporarily and permanent habitats. Both projects were presented and had large scale societal impact.
After his graduation, Borko continued his education and specialization in architectural visualization with particular focus on conceptual architecture. Such research allowed him to get involved with design of space habitats and future living concepts. He is a National Point of Contact for Serbia within Space Generation Advisory Council.
Maja Kisin, PR Manager and Communications Officer
Maja Kisin is female force within Serbian Office for Space Sciences, Research and Development (SERBSPACE), has joined SERBSPACE in 2018, being appointed as PR and Communications Officer.
Tourism industry professional with academic background in social sciences – tourism, media and public relations, in love with all things concerning space science and space industry. Maja is a passionate advocate for private space exploration, space tourism and industry field that is using space for good while delivering an unparalleled costumer experience.
Being SERBSPACE Communications Officer and Space motivational speaker, Maja is helping at expanding understanding of space science and learning new amazing things about human ingenuity and psychology.
